Every year before the December holidays, TDSB social workers provide us with information on families in our community in need of support. Your child’s class has been paired with a family and asked to collect donations from their wish list. There will be a hamper for donations in each classroom, as well as a check list to avoid duplication. Items do not need to be wrapped but students are encouraged to decorate the hampers!
This is a wonderful opportunity to teach our kids about giving during the holiday season, and we encourage parents to really involve their children in a discussion around the family they’ll be supporting, their needs, and how much of an impact their action of helping and giving back will make.
Some items traditionally requested include toys, clothes (only new clothing items please!), and gift certificates. If you have any items to donate that would suit children from a different age group than your child’s class has been assigned, please find an appropriate family from the profiles below and drop your items in the corresponding classroom.
This year we will be collecting donations of wish list items until Monday December 9th. TDSB Social Workers deliver the holiday hampers in person to the families just before the school break in December. The families are extremely grateful for the hampers and the items help brighten their holiday.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Anne Feehely or Sasha Sandler.
All family profiles and classroom assignments are listed below.
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
