Kiss n’ Ride

Historically, the School Council and its volunteers have organized and operated a “Kiss n’ Ride” for the students of Brown JPS. (A Kiss n’ Ride is a designated area for the drop off and pick up of children operated by volunteers at key points during the school day, allowing parents to drop off or pick up children without having to park their vehicles). Due to the limitations imposed by Covid-19, our traditional Kiss n’ Ride is not currently being offered at Brown JPS.

The School Council is continuing to work closely with the administration to look for opportunities to ensure the safety of families during busy periods of traffic. We will continue to monitor the situation and look forward to reintroducing the Kiss n’ Ride, or comparable program, when it is safe and we are allowed to do so.

Traffic Safety

If you are parking or pulling into the parking lots in either the front or back of the school, you are endangering our students. Please consider the risk to your child when you choose to do something like this. We may be required to gate the parking lots if this continues. We kindly ask you to remember that it is important to show our children that safety rules need to be followed.

The City of Toronto has embarked on a pilot project and has changed the lane in front of the school from a driving lane to one with decorative planters. This bump out is intended to push the driving lanes away from the school and address the very real traffic safety concerns around the school. This solution is intended to push traffic away from the school by keeping traffic flowing in the existing 2 lanes and not opening to three lanes until Balmoral.

We are committed to continue to work with our dedicated group of parents and The City of Toronto to advocate for increased action that makes our community safer for traveling to and from school.

Morning Drop-off Parking Map

No Parking in the following areas (see map above):

  1. Avenue Road – never drop kids off here
  2. Brown driveway (tow-away zone)
  3. Bus parking only
  4. Staff parking lot
  5. In front of St John’s Latvian Lutheran Church
  6. No parking during morning drop-off, 15 minute parking from 11:15am-1pm & 3pm-4pm

Designated parking areas:

  • Warren Rd (Clarendon to St. Clair) – 1 hour parking 8am-6pm
  • Balmoral (Warren to Avenue Road) – 1 hour 8am-6pm
  • Clarendon (Polar Plains to Avenue Road) – 1 hour 8am-6pm
  • Lynwood (Poplar Planes to Avenue Road) – 15 min 8am-9am
